#24 I'm Thankful For.....

Last year I ventured out into Black Friday for the first time.  Both of my older girls wanted Nintendo DS's for Christmas.  Emma told me everything was going to be okay because Santa would bring hers.  How do you argue with that?

So I went and stood in line at Walmart for over an hour to get the NDSes.  By the time I got up there, I was told I could only have one.  Problem was I have two daughters.  Luckily, my sister Tara has more gumption than I do and she literally stepped in and got that second one for me.

My sister-in-law was teasing me a bit because I was holding the two small boxes constantly.  They didn't sit in our cart for even a second.  There was no way I was taking the chance that I would lose either of my two prizes.

This year, I'm thankful I don't have to go to Black Friday for more affordable Christmas presents.  I can go if I want to, but I don't have to.

I'm so thankful for that!

Funny. I'm kind of bummed I don't get to go this year ... I'm not venturing out on my own in a strange town and my in-laws think it is the day of the devil!

I remember thinking that being out at 5am was early. Until we actually got to WALMART.

I will forever think of that NDS story every Thanksgiving!

I was in San Antonio with a friend. Her German/Turkish friend was experiencing her 1st Thanksgiving and was dying to go out for Black Friday. At MIDNIGHT! so we loaded up at 11pm and drove the hour to the Outlets. Now I didn't stand outside, in line, in the cold and wind to go into Victoria's Secret but I did shop until 6am. Funny thing is when everyone else is up it isn't so bad. Plus we were doing it for fun and only stayed out until we were tired. On the hour drive home I texted Aunt Bev (since she is always been out at 4 or 5 am to shop)and she wrote back "I'm out too". Best part she is two hours behind TX time and it was 0630 where I was. "Crazy Bev" I always say. (Except this year I think it was me!)
