Disney Vacation Day Five

Our fourth day at Disneyland we had the chance to enter an hour early. We had saved Fantasyland for this day. We got there just in time for the Early Entrance gate to become a regular Entrance gate. (We were late for early entrance.) However, it was the earliest we made it there all week long. It's okay. You can laugh at that. I do. I'm still not sure Josh does, though.

We rode just about everything that day: Snow White, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Storybook Lands, Tea Cups, Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo, Small World, Mr Toad's Wild Ride, and toured Sleeping Beauty's Castle. All before noon. It was great.

From there we went to the Jedi Academy in Tomorrowland. We went so Matt could be trained to become a Jedi, but the Jedi Master picked the two girls and not him. He was so upset. The girls went up and put on their Younglings' robes and were given practice lightsabers. It's set up really, really cool. The kids are given some defense moves and then Darth Vadar and Darth Mall both show up to fight the Younglings. Each trainee fights one of the Darths. Darth Vadar told the Younglings that if they follow him, he'll continue their training. Matt said to me, "I want to go to the Dark Side!" He really, really wanted Jedi training, no matter who gave it to him.

In these videos, Abby is fighting Vadar and Emma is fighting Mall. Abby also gets to use the Force against the Storm Troopers. She was the only Youngling who got to do that.

After narrowly escaping Matt's attempt to join the Dark Side, we went to lunch at the Golden Horseshoe and caught Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. That was hilarious! I laughed so hard!! I would've happily watched their show again, but, alas, we ran out of time.

After lunch we went to Toon Town. This is where we finally saw Mickey Mouse. I was hoping he'd be one of the characters we met at Goofy's Kitchen, but he wasn't there. We spent the hour in line to have our three minutes with him, but it was worth the wait.

We also rode Gadget's Go Coaster, Chip n Dale's Treehouse, Donald's Houseboat.

We went back to the hotel and had dinner. This time Josh stayed at the hotel with Matt and Millie while I took the girls back to the Park. We rode the Tea Cups, Storybook Lands, Casey Jr Train, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Splash Mountain. Because it was rainy, it was pretty quiet. We got to ride Pirates twice in a row. You want to get a bit creeped out? Ride Pirates all alone. There was one guy in the boat ahead of us and no one in any boats behind us. What freaked me out was that it was just me and the girls. I was the sole protector. The first time we rode that ride I told Emma that the best way to get over being afraid of it is to be an actor and act like she was brave. I had to take my own advice. It is really freaky being in the boat in the middle of the water in the dark caves of that ride. I don't know if you understand the extent of the freakiness. It was freaky.

Emma's favorite ride of the day was Small World, Abby's was Dumbo, Matt's was Gadget's Go Coaster.

shelly--i'm so glad you had a great time! so cool that your girls got to do the jedi training. that was one of my favorite parts. and i LOVED billy hill. i've never laughed so hard. i'm glad i'm not the only one who is an emotional wreck. i don't know if it's memories from when i was little, or seeing your kids have so much fun--and having fun with them, but i swear, i had tears in my eyes half the time. you are the greatest!

That's cool the girls got to train to be jedi's. The boys would love that! When we got our picture with Mickey, there was a family that cut in front of us. At first it looked like they were going to be able to see him and get their picture, but Mickey wouldn't let them. It was good to see that they pay attention to whose around them and not let people cut.
